1 Dream Foundation Athletes to Africa III March 30 – April 10, 2010
In the Spring of 2010, the 1 Dream Foundation will once again head to Africa for the Athletes to Africa program. This will be the 3rd straight year of the program and during this time nearly 50 people have enjoyed this amazing trip. This year instead of flying East, we are flying West and stopping in Hong Kong for 3 days. From Hong Kong, we fly directly to South Africa where we will spend the last week of our journey exploring Cape Town, Johannesburg and going on Safari. It truly is a trip of a lifetime.
The trip is open to any high school student who is interested in exploring new cultures and seeing the world. There is a basketball component of the trip, as we will play games against the local teams and put on clinics for the local kids. The main thing that most of the kids come home with is a better understanding and appreciation of the world that they are privileged to live in. Sometimes it takes flying around the world to gain that perspective.
Within our group we’ve had all ages, from 14 to 75. This is an active trip, with constant activity so potential participants should be aware of this.
A trip of this magnitude is obviously not cheap ($4,000). This price includes all airfare, meals, tours, ground transportation, hotels, tips and probably a t-shirt or two! Once you leave the United States, you will not have to spend any money (unless you want souvenirs).
The only other requirement for this trip is a valid passport. There are no shots required for any of our destinations.
