1 Dream Hoopswas the impetus for creating the1 Dream Foundation, following Director Tom Mott’s involvement with the NBA’s Basketball without Borders campaign in South Africa.1 Dream Foundationwas created to provide secondary and college education opportunities to basketball-playing youth.1 Dream Hoopshas created education opportunities to student athletes from the following countries: Ghana, Angola, Cameroon, Senegal, Hungary, France, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico and Argentina. These students would not be able to receive a secondary or college-level education without the help of the1 Dream Foundation. While in the United States, the students are required to volunteer in their local communities, learn the lesson of giving, and when they return to their home countries, take with them and implement the value of serving others.
