The 1 Dream Hoops students are encouraged to contribute to their local U.S. community in various volunteer capacities. They volunteer in their school community service projects, help coach and mentor elementary school basketball programs, and learn to give back to the community that has embraced them. Each spring, the 1 Dream Foundation takes American students on an immersion trip that travels to South Africa and works with a local organization in the townships to bring basketball skills and friendship among the students and adults. (This trip is 100% funded by those traveling.)
