1 DREAM GETTING READY FOR JULY RECRUITING EVENTS

The 1Dream Foundation has announced the tournament schedule for the July NCAA Evaluation events. The 1 Dreamers will be participating in the following events:
July 14-15 --- Full Court Press Cream of the Crop (Los Angeles)
July 22-26 --- Star Vision Sports Center Stage (Las Vegas, NV)
July 28-30 --- GBOA Classic (Los Angeles)
1 DREAM SPENDS THE DAY IN MORRO BAY AND AT THE DUNES

The 1 Dreamers spent the afternoon scrimmaging the Morro Bay Pirates working on zone offensive sets. After the scrimmage the Dreamers headed for the dunes of Montana de Oro where they sand surfed, body boarded and took part in some Senegalese wrestling. This is our 12th community fundraiser to date. In just over a year, Joe Momma’s Soup Night attendees have raised close to $25,000 to support some very worthy causes at home and abroad: a Playpump in Lesotho, the Bob Jones Bike Trail, SLOIFF, and the Botshabelo orphanage in South Africa. This month our gathering of warm hearts assists a locally-based organization that is changing the lives of kids from all over the world. Join us at 7pm for a great night of food, fun and fellowship. 1 DREAM ENJOYS BBQ AT THE CUSACK HOME

1 Dream supporters Pat & Dana Cusack (& family) graciously hosted the 1 Dreamers for a delicious afternoon of BBQ, basketball and swimming. The 1 Dreamers enjoyed the full court dunk hoops, Ibrahim enjoyed his pool basketball and all the boys had a great meal of tri-tip, "beef" sausage, ribs and tons more. Many thanks to the Cusacks (host parents of Bebe Vargas and Bouba Casse).
DUNKS AND SCHEDULES UPDATED

The summer of 2009 is off to a good start as the 1 Dreamers are 11-2 to start the season and Daniel Gomis has 19 dunks to his credit through the first 13 games.
The 1 Dreamers survived 9 games in 3 days and were crowned champions of the UCSB team camp. After going 3-2 in pool play, the 1 Dreamers started to click during the elimination round on the last day of the tourney and reeled off 4-straight wins on Sunday to capture the championship in Division 1, which was the toughest division. Leading the way was Daniel Gomis (Senegal) who dominated on both ends of the court. Also playing well for the Dreamers was point guard Bebo Estevez (Dominican Republic) and Aboubacar Casse (Senegal) who each showed Division 1 potential.

1 DREAMERS GOES 4-0 IN OPENING TOURNAMENT

After being in the USA for less than 48 hours the 1 Dreamers are off to a 4-0 start to start the summer season. With an emphasis on team play and sharing the basketball, the team received balance scoring throughout the tournament.
1 DREAMERS ARRIVE

Several of the 1 Dreamers have arrived for their summer in San Luis Obispo with a few others set to arrive over the next few weeks. The players that have arrived thus far are Daniel Gomis and Aboubakar Casse from Senegal, Ziggy Vrana from Hungary , Bebo Estevez from the Dominican Republic and Ibrahim Salih from Ghana. In addition, Bebe Vargas will be joining the team on Monday.

MARCO BOURGAULT SIGNS WITH MONTANA STATE

Congrats to Marc Bourgault who becomes the 2nd member of the Class of 2009 to sign a full scholarship with a Division One program joining Bawa Maniru signed with Indiana University in the Fall . Marco, a native of France, will be taking his game to the Big Sky Conference. Congrats to both students.
JON VELEZ SIGNS FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO HILL COLLEGE

Puerto Rican Jon Velez will be continuing his college career at Hill College in Texas. Velez signed a full scholarship and will be playing in one of the toughest junior college conferences in the USA. Congrats to Jonbi.

The 1 Dream Foundation is committed to providing educational and mentoring opportunities for disadvantaged students from around the world. These students shall receive a fully sponsored high school and college education so that upon receiving their college degree they can return to their homeland and better serve their people.
